Day 6 Saddle up, folks, we're heading out across the rolling range this morning to Tio (Uncle) Tarcicio's farm for a few days deeper into the countryside. This trip is a gem that is full of spectacular vistas, lore and tradition. Hint here, better put the drinking boots on early: when crossing a property line, the custom is to receive the horn, appropriately filled with (you can guess!) cachaça. Don't worry; we only cross 5 property lines on the 3 hour horseback ride. We'll relax briefly once we've reached Tio Tarcicio's and remount for a 40 minute jaunt on horseback to the edge of Bicudo Canyon for lunch in the countryside. After lunch on the canyon's edge, for those souls who are up for trying something different, we will rappel into the canyon next to the 35 meter waterfall, Salto de Bicudo. For those who prefer to stay firmly planted vertically, we can follow a trail down. The trail follows the winding Rio Porteira and will lead us down and out of the canyon. You will see the striking difference of the vegetation inside of the canyon and pass many beautiful little waterfalls and swimming holes to cool off. As night falls, the stars of the Southern sky will begin to poke through the impending dark canopy. New constellations only visible in the Southern hemisphere will present themselves. We'll prepare a typical Gaucho "dinner on the trail", carreteiro, in a cast iron pot over an open fire in the barn.
