Southern Brazil Adventures was founded by Vitorli Machado and Anthony Ippolito while Anthony was doing research on plants in remote areas of Southern Brazil in the mid 1990's. The Machado family had been welcoming travelers and guests into their home since 1990 when an addition was put on the existing house to start a bed and breakfast (a pousada). The family welcomed Anthony into their home and adopted him as the only North American member of their family. After many nights around the fire in the barn and many conversations about the possibility of international tourism in the region, Vitorli and Anthony decided to develop a business that would promote this culturally rich and ecologically diverse region to the traveling world. Because all of our tours are built on personal experiences with the people of the regions, you will not find our tours in the Lonely Planet Guide or Frommer's. We only take small groups on our tours which enhances contact with local people and more intimate experiences with nature.
